Rumor Has It Google K!lled the FAQs | The AI Search Briefing #19

The truth is that Google did not k!ll the questions and answers on your website. Google removed the FAQ rich-result boxes that once gave some search listings additional space and visibility.
The fancy display may be gone, but useful FAQ content still matters.

Rumor has it Google k!lled the FAQs.

Well… Yes and no.

Google did not k!ll the FAQs on your website. Google killed the fancy FAQ boxes that used to show up in regular search results. In other words, the extra decoration is gone, but the questions and answers on your website still matter. Google’s documentation says FAQ rich results stopped appearing in Google Search on May 7, 2026.

So let’s dumb this down a bit for you anti-geeks.

Before, if you had FAQ content on your website, Google might show those questions and answers right in the search results. That made your listing look bigger and fancier. But now, Google is not doing that anymore. The fancy boxes are gone. However, the content is not. That’s the part people need to understand.

Google removed the flashy display. But if your website still answers real customer questions in plain English, that content still helps people understand your business. And it can help AI systems understand what your business does, who you help, and why your business should be trusted. Google’s AI guidance says the same core SEO best practices still apply and that important information should be available as text on the page.

So no, FAQ content is not dead especially for AI Systems.

Even though Google removed the fancy boxes, the FAQs still matter.

Build FAQs for clarity.
Build FAQs for trust.
Build FAQs to answer the real questions your customers are already asking.
